Bridges are part of our stories. They can be built, crossed, or even burned. Every journey has them and they are a beautiful metaphor for how we feel at every point in our lives.
When we are young, we spend much of our time building bridges and burning them. One of the greatest lessons we must learn is that we must mindfully cross the bridge before we set it ablaze.
As we get older, we spend our time crossing bridges. Every new milestone is another overpass traveled. Try as we may to take our time and set a leisurely pace, the bridges seem to grow shorter with time; or perhaps it is that the water, the lifeblood of our relationships, has become less difficult to cross.
Whether you're building bridges or burning them, take care in crossing them and don't forget to look over your shoulder to the bridges of your past. Learn from every ember and embrace every step.
