Seniors and parents, give yourselves a pat on the back for surviving the "last" first day of school. You're one step closer to graduation, but there are still lots of things to get done before that finish line. If you haven't had your senior portrait session done yet, September is the perfect time to do it. Here are 8 reasons why this month is perfect for holding your senior session with Aubade Photography.
8. The weather is perfect
Early fall weather is wonderful for photos. It's not face melting hot anymore, but it's not so cold that we've had to pull out our parkas just yet. This time of year is perfect for dressing in layers which means that you can get several different looks out of one outfit which saves on number of full ensemble changes.
7. Students don't change much between now and spring
Some parents worry about having senior portraits that look different from their graduate. Sure, hairstyles or clothing preferences may change over the future few months, but they will still look pretty much the same. Plus...
6. Senior Portraits will have 10,000 uses throughout the schoolyear!
Senior year is full of all sorts of "to do's" and "lasts" that require recent portraits. You'll be absolutely amazed at the number of times you'll need to use the images throughout their senior year and you'll be glad you've already had them done.
For instance, most high schools have yearbook deadlines (some as early as mid-October) and you will need to have your images taken before the deadline arrives.
Plus, you can send them out to relatives with your holiday cards. What grandparent doesn't love receiving their new professional school portraits every year?
5. Beautiful Backdrops
Late summer/early fall is filled with beautiful, colorful foliage. We still have green grass and by the end of the month some of the leaves may have turned. Wisconsin dusk is stunning, and September is the perfect time to take advantage of the gorgeous scenery at our fingertips.
4. The sun works to our advantage
Mid-summer sunlight can be tricky to work with. When it's really bright, it casts shadows which can be problematic to portrait perfection. As the sun changes angles in the fall, it offers a great glow for capturing amazing photos.
3. Spring weather STINKS
Let's be honest, spring in the Midwest is a beautiful time of renewal. When the snow melts off and everything begins to grow, it is an exciting time of fresh smells and pretty flowers. It's also a muddy, rainy, mucky MESS. Outside photos just aren't much fun when the weather is unpredictable and wet.
2. Spring schedules are insane
When we finally reach the "decent weather" zone that is April and May, senior family schedules are CRAZY! There will be award ceremonies, spring sports, meetings, college visits, invitations that need to get out which will be dependent on print timing, PLUS you'll be preparing for graduation and graduation parties. Finding time and remembering to schedule your session during this hectic time is one stress you can avoid.
1. We have fall appointments available
Since we haven't yet hit the holiday rush we have more availability right now that in the upcoming months. You probably have more availability now too before you get too deep into the throes of the school year. Students get busier and busier with sports, jobs, after-school commitments, community service volunteering (looks great on that college application) and other engagements as the year goes on.
Now that you know why this is the best possible time to book your senior's session, here are the different ways you can schedule or get more information about what we have available.
